Company Details: Thirsty Bear Organic Brewery was established in 1996 in the SOMA district of San Francisco. That makes it the oldest operating brewpub in San Francisco! We have nine beers and two cask-conditioned ale on at all times. The brewery is certified organic, which means the malt, hops and even the yeast that we use is certified organic before I brew with them.

Biography: Started off homebrewing in 1993.
In 1995 I attended the American Brewers Guild's "Brewpubs and Microbreweries- The Definitive Shortcourse" to ensure this was the path I wanted to take for a career. 
In 1996 finally landed a job at the Monterey Brewing Co. (in San Francisco by that time) installing the brewing equipment, etc. 

In the Spring of 1996 I attended the American Brewers Guild 11 week "Craft Brewers Apprenticeship Program" I served my apprenticeship at Tabernash Brewing Co in Denver CO. The head brewer there was American Weihenstephan graduate and author of " German Wheat Beer", Eric Warner. 
During this same period I also started a contract brewing company called Reccow Brewing Co. in San Francisco. We brewed a Fest Lager and a Premium Lager ( in chronological order) at San Andreas Brewing Co, Carmel Brewing Co and finally at Coast Range Brewing Co. 

The objective of Reccow Brewing Co was to open a brewpub in San Francisco that served continental lager styles, so in the Fall of 1997 I attended Doemens " International Course in Brewing Technology" in Munich to dive deeper. 
After completing the course I offered my journeyman services to Weissbrau Graming in Alt Otting. I then moved to Bamberg to apprentice at Braurei Fassla and Weyermann Malting. I finished my journey at the Gasthaus Brauerei Leuchturm near Nuremburg. In return I received room, one meal a day, beer and knowledge. 
Our company closed in 2000 and I landed a position at The Broken Drum in San Rafael, CA ( now re-imagined as The State Room).

In 2002 I accepted my current position at Thirsty Bear Brewing Co. While here I joined the Masters Brewers Association of the Americas and also becoming a MBAA Beer Steward. In 2010 I became a Certified Cicerone.
