Biography: Judith Boyle has obtained a BSc. Honours degree in chemistry from NUI Galway and an MSc. in petroleum geochemistry from Newcastle University England. She has worked as an analytical chemist since 2005 both for pharmaceuticals companies and for the State Laboratory.
However Judith always had a passion for beverages and the drinks industry. As a fifth generation publican Judith grew up learning about the different aspects of the drinks industry and how it has had to changed and evolved in Ireland over the last number of years. She used her background in science to understand the background to beer making and the flavours and tastes that enhance food and beer matching and achieved accreditation from the International brewing and distilling organisation in the UK as a beer sommelier.
She has been awarded qualifications in wine and spirits from WSET and strives to learn more about drink production and beverage and food matching especially beer and food pairings. Dedicated to artisan produce and producers, Judith was selected to be a Fáilte Ireland (Irish Tourist Board) food champion. She has a keen understanding of the drinks industry from both sides of the counter and a rigorous, analytical and fun approach to drinks and drinks education. An award winning member of the Guild of Beer Writers, Judith hosts regular drinks masterclasses and tasting events and she has devised a drinks performance for the Oxford Symposium of Food 2017.
Judith is now currently employed as a lecturer in beverages in the dublin institute of technology.
